Ten beautiful works of art will be on display shortly at the Silver Falls Lodge and Conference Center. As you can see from the group selection process, we had the challenge of just picking 10 of Peace’s amazing work. We had over 300 pounds of invasive plants removed from approximately 4 acres of the South Falls Day-use Area and Canyon Trail. Volunteers were so enthusiastic that other visitors wanted to join in on the fun and asked where they could get bags to help pick up litter as well. Future generations of Oregonians learned the great habit of helping keep our special places clean!
Clue: It is still growing in the same place as you see in this postcard. The “Supervisor’s Cottage” or “Log Cabin” is no more, but you can still relax in a sunny meadow that was once our park manager’s “front lawn” in the South Falls Day-Use Area today.

Our hikers didn’t believe our unfortunate online miscommunication that recently found it’s way to the web (yes, our day-use areas are open 7 days a week 8am – 9pm) but were surprised to discover that lava flows from eastern WA and OR brought our basalt rock layers we see today underneath our waterfalls. And yes, cars were pushed over South Falls in 1928!
