Earth Day Clean-up a HUGE (soggy) Success!

PSU Volunteers 2

Our Earth Day Clean-up was a HUGE success!

We had over 300 pounds of invasive plants removed from approximately 4 acres of the South Falls Day-use Area and Canyon Trail.  Volunteers were so enthusiastic that other visitors wanted to join in on the fun and asked where they could get bags to help pick up litter as well.  Future generations of Oregonians learned the great habit of helping keep our special places clean!

Park “Secret” – Dogwood Meadow

Dogwood MeadowCan you find our beautiful Dogwood Tree blooming this weekend?  Good Luck!

Clue:  It is still growing in the same place as you see in this postcard.  The “Supervisor’s Cottage” or “Log Cabin” is no more, but you can still relax in a sunny meadow that was once our park manager’s “front lawn” in the South Falls Day-Use Area today.

No Foolin’ Our Hikers!

I'm No Fool Hike Hands 2016

No Fool Top of South FallsNo Fooling 2016

Silver Falls is closed this weekend.

The ground under our waterfalls is from Washington.

Cars went over South Falls.

April Fools?

1- Fooling.  2 – No Fooling.  and 3 – No Fooling.

Our hikers didn’t believe our unfortunate online miscommunication that recently found it’s way to the web (yes, our day-use areas are open 7 days a week 8am – 9pm) but were surprised to discover that lava flows from eastern WA and OR brought our basalt rock layers we see today underneath our waterfalls.  And yes, cars were pushed over South Falls in 1928!

Happy April Fools Day from Silver Falls!
