Silver Falls was fortunate to be awarded another AmeriCorps NCCC team this Fall!
A team of 10 young men and women arrived at Silver Falls this past Saturday after a long drive from their training headquarters in Sacramento, CA. They were greeted with a hospitality table full of goodies made by the Friends of Silver Falls, park staff and their families. They (and Silver Falls staff!) are looking forward to trail work, infrastructure improvement, historical preservation, and special event support.
With the help of the recent rains, our waterfalls are flowing proudly again after an extra dry summer. Pair beautiful waterfalls with our Fall colors and you have a great Autumn hike awaiting here at Silver Falls. This coming weekend (Nov. 7 & 8) you’ll also get to watch one of the region’s most popular trail races: http://www.silverfallsmarathon.com/
Join over 2000 runners representing 30 states running on Silver Falls State Park’s trails this coming Saturday and Sunday, November 7 & 8.
Run Wild Adventures has 900 runners registered for Saturday’s 50K, Marathon, and 7-mile races. Another 1100 runners are slated for Sunday’s Half Marathon – sold out back in mid August! (So check out the race this year and be sure to register early for 2016’s event.)
